Engineer/Producer Sean Norton was in with band Coldsmoke for mastering as was Engineer Ed Rei with Mindstain. Metal band Stonecreep stopped by with engineer Jim Sanders for sonic polish too. Wrapped up mixing and mastering for SomeOne featuring guitarists/vocalists Marcus and Dorian Jones as well as Renato Caranto on saxophone. Began mixing on the Jake Kot project and started tracking new songs for Country Rock artist Tim Current. Mastered releases for GS Records punk band THP, solo pianist Melanie Holmgren and singer/songwriter Perry Callas. Mixing continued for Marcus and Dorian Jones‘ band called SomeOne, as did tracking and editing for the Jake Kot project.
Mastered releases for Kenny Ray and the Grace Band, Matt Ward, Jim Brunberg, Luke’s Wall and Norman “The Boogie Cat” Sylvester‘s new release entitled “A Family Affair: Music from the Soul”. Charles Suniga was in to mix and master his new recording called Moments of Peace: The Journey, as well as CEDARing and remastering of his 1985 vinyl release entitled Moments of Peace: Beyond the Keys. Marcus and Dorian Jones were in to begin mixing. Acoustic duo Terra stopped by with engineer Jim Sanders for sonic polish. Tracking began at Walter Midi Studios (PDX) for the new Melanie Holmgren solo piano CD and tracking continues on the Jake Kot project.
Portland’s own Lea Krueger was in with producer Sean Norton to master her new release entitled “Strange Hallelujah”. PDX bands Feller, Drift, The Lost Boys, Twisted Motivations, Pseudo Six and Whipple Creek Community Church Worship Group were in as well. Rappers Perfect in Plastic came by to add the finishing touches on their new release entitled “Plastic Makes Perfect”. Longview punk band, The Jimmies came in to master new tracks for their anticipated CD entitled “Longview”. Editing of extensive product marketing interview tapes for Sorensen Associates took place as well as mastering for solo projects by Shane Knox, Whitney Jones and Lisa Williams. Mixing and mastering of the new Jordan Tyler CD and Lorely Zgonc‘s Holiday Hits is now complete. Tracking continues on the Jake Kot project.
Mastered releases for PDX area groups Mel, Liquid Grace, Edict, math rockers The Planet The, the long awaited release from Blue Star Creeper entitled ” If Nothing Else Shimmers”. Metal head’s Jester’s Moon and Salem’s Falling Up came by for sweetening as well as Kevin Hahn of Opal Studios to master the 96k/24 bit high resolution recording of The Red Sector. The Swing-puppet himself, Johnny Martin was in to master his live recording at the Oregon Zoo too. Last Chance Records‘ Mark Surrat was in overseeing mastering on a 24 song punk rock compilation entitled “Northwest Kicked in the Nuts” including the bands: Hell Candidates, BXF, Pink Chihuahua, Triggers, Anti-World, Black Jack Bettie, Sado-Nation, Sasshole, The Die Jobs, Cookie, Macho Borracho, The Nightmares, The Torture Cookies, Amazombies, Cootie Platoon, Apocalypsticks, Cherry Bomb, Bettie Mayhem, Zipper Trouble, Betty Already, The Hazmats, The Jolenes, Bobbitt, and The Del Toros. Seattle artist Kat Terran came down to master and Georgia artists Sleeping by the River sent their new CD in for treatment. Recording continues for jazz-fusion recording artist Jake Kot as well as singer songwriter Jordan Tyler.
Mixing and editing continues for Lorely Zgonc‘s String Series CD. World-class guitar picker, John Standefer was in to master his new release entitled “Timeless Guitar”. John has written books for the Mel Bay Company and is always involved in the Chet Atkins Conventions PDX area groups Three Together, Straitjacket, Dirthead, Nigel, Overthrow, Cadence Within and The Flying Stickleys were in for mastering as well. Wow is that Rob Halford? No, it’s PDX band Last Empire. Heavy Metal with a distinct 80’s edge. These guys rock and they were in to master their CD. Port Townsend Black Metal Label Moribund Records artists Genocide Kommando came in for the mastering treatment too. Los Angeles ambient guitarist extraordinaire Eric Fischer had a single mastered that will be included on the second installment of “Guitars for Freedom” Last year’s CD included tracks by Carlos Santana, Steve Vai, Jimi Hendrix and many more. Tracking began on the new Jake Kot project featuring Renato Caranto, Paul Mazzio, Rheinhardt Melz and George Mitchell.
Mastered releases for PDX area artists: Big Hank and the Blues Boys, Life After Lift-off, Andi Camp, Trophy Wife, Sicc Mob Clicc, The Cannonballs, Reduction Method, Luis Palau Evangelistic Association and Seattle artist Cat Kinsey. Tracking began for Lorely Zgonc‘s latest installation of her string training series. This one is entitled “Holiday Hits”. Lorely is the Portland Opera’s Concert Master. Tracking also began for acoustic pop singer/songwriter Jordan Tyler. Mastered releases for PDX area artists: Josh Butler, ’62 Comet Summer, Jason Wann, punk rockers The Die Jobs, Orb and hip-hop artists Mr. SBL featuring Jordan Rain. Mel Brown provided drums for two new releases: Sax great Renato Caranto‘s new CD entitled Straight Ahead and Jazz singer Starr Padden‘s Swing with a Starr. Tape Op editor and Jackpot Recording engineer Larry Crane stopped by to CEDAR and master a re-release for a past band of his called the Sunbirds, the CD will be entitled No Sun, No Shadow. Mixing was completed for Vancouver’s very own iknowkungfu, the CD is called Stout, Whiskey and Wine. Mastering and editing was done for harpist Bronn Journey‘s new live Christmas CD, yet to be titled, but it will be out on CD as well as video.
Mastered the final recording from the late Alula Recording Artist Ephat Mujuru entitled “Journey of the Spirit”. Ephat was one of the most brilliant and beloved of Zimbabwe’s traditional Shona mbira players. He will be missed. Mastering also took place for PDX bands: Manta and Loligo‘s sophomore release entitled “40 Coals and a Funeral Cake” as well as Christian vocal artists: Step of Faith and The Stock Brothers. Othello, WA band War By The Day, PDX bluegrass trio The Stragglers and jazz pianist extraordinaire Randy Porter were in as well. Brenda Baker was in with producer Neil DePonte to master her CD of songs by Richard Faith. The Martindales were in to mix their new release entitled “Introducing The Martindales” with the help of Haywire Recording’s Robert Bartleson, mastering followed. Vancouver punk rockers iknowkungfu continued tracking on their upcoming release. The Oregon Symphony was in for this month’s NPR Radio Broadcast which included: Haydn’s Symphony No. 98 in B-flat Major, Brahms’ Variations on a Theme of Haydn, Op. 56a, Ravel’s La Valse and Concerto for Piano Left-Hand and Orchestra in D Major featuring guest piano solist Jean-Yves Thibaudet and guest conductor Sergiu Comissiona. Recording, editing and mixing for Cathy Coffey and the Amazon Herb Company took place as well as voice over recordings for Melaluca Inc. Kevin also tracked jazz singer Cory Joynt at HeavyWood Studios in Lake Oswego, OR.
Upgraded from Pro Tools Mix to Pro Tools | HD3 system with a 192 box. Edited the pilot episode of jazz singer Rebecca Kilgore‘s new radio interview show called “Listen Hear”. Kevin travelled to Greenville, South Carolina to MagicMusic Studios to track 2 CDs worth of material for solo pianist Emile Pandolfi, whose sales have currently exceeded 2 million CDs. The Oregon Symphony was in for this month’s NPR Radio Broadcast which included: Corigliano’s Tournaments, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3 Op.55 “Eroica” and Copland’s Concerto for Clarinet and String Orchestra, David Sgifrin, Clarinet and Enrique Diemecke, guest conductor. PDX band Gruesome Galore and Vancouver, WA band Cheap Shot was in for mastering. Country singer, Les Richardson (White Salmon, WA ) was in to master his new CD which was recorded in Nashville. The Bassoon Brothers were in to finish editing, mixing and mastering their new CD entitled “Captured” due out soon on Crystal Records. Wait till you hear their version of Purple Haze. If you’ve never hear a wah-wah Bassoon plugged into a Bogner Shiva, you’re in for a treat! Vancouver, WA celtic punksters iknowkungfu were in to begin tracking on their new CD.
Editing and mixing of the new Bassoon Brothers CD, yet to be titled, has been completed! The Bassoon Brothers are all Oregon Symphony players as well as one Atlanta Symphony player. Lots of mastering going on: Le Deux, Rodney Thomas, James Manuele, Riot Face, Five Guys Named Moe, Bronn Journey, Wanda Ottensmeyer and The William Thomas Ensemble were all in for sweetening. Producer Jeremy Wilson (Dharma Bums, Pilot) and Lew Jones were in to master Lew’s new release entitled “Sublimation” as was Longview punk rock band Jackmove. Mastering was also done for the South African groovecore band Aftertaste.
Mastered releases for Redmond, OR artist Lori Starr and a guitar instruction CD by John Standefer. Editing continues on the new Bassoon Brothers CD as well as final overdubs for the Vancouver, WA band The Martindales.
